WISA-Birch Plywood
WISA-Birch is a full birch veneer plywood made in Finland by UPM Plywood, bonded with weather-resistant phenolic glue. It has a light, smooth, even face and an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. I use it anywhere the finished surface matters. It cuts clean, sands beautifully, takes stain and clear finishes without fighting me, and the edge laminations are a design feature if you know how to treat them. It's what I'm using for the kitchen I promised my wife I'd upgrade, and it's my default for templates, jigs, and furniture bodies. The face grade (BB, WG, III) affects appearance only, not structural performance. Buy the grade that fits your finish: BB for visible lacquered work, WG for painted or hidden work, lower grades for anything structural you don't need to look at.
